“Should be a bus driver”, “Offers very little” – Barcelona fans want ‘disastrous’ player sold after 2-1 defeat to Real Sociedad
Barcelona fans lambasted Franck Kessie for his performance during the team's shock 2-1 La Liga defeat against Real Sociedad at the Camp Nou.
Mikel Moreno gave the Basque club an early lead by finding the back of the net in the fifth minute of the match. Alexander Sorloth scored in the 72nd minute to make it 2-0 for the visitors. Robert Lewandowski then pulled one back in the 90th minute, which was nothing but consolation for the hosts.
Kessi started the game in the midfield alongside Sergio Busquets and Frenkie de Jong. The Ghanaian was withdrawn in the 63rd minute with his team down 1-0. Before that, he made no key passes and played no long balls. He also failed to register any shot on target. Overall, it was a rather lackluster display from the player.
Fans raged against him with one of them writing on Twitter:
"Kessie should be a bus driver what’s he doing at Barca?"
Another claimed:
"Franck Kessie should be one of the first players to exit the club. He offers very little on the pitch! Should be an easy €25m profit!"
While Kessie did score the winner against Real Madrid in the La Liga El Clasico at the Spotify Camp Nou this season, influential moments have been few and far between from him.
Since joining the club in the summer from AC Milan, he has now played 40 matches for the Blaugrana, scoring thrice and assisting as many.
His performance against Sociedad, however, was far from an ideal one. Barcelona fans slaughtered him and here are some of the best reactions from Twitter:
Frank Kessie has been linked with a Barcelona exit in the summer
Franck Kessie's time as a Barcelona player could end after just one season. The midfielder has been linked with a summer exit and according to Spanish outlet SPORT, Inter Milan are interested in signing the former AC Milan star.
While he has struggled at the Catalan club, Kessie had a good time in Serie A. He scored 37 goals and provided 16 assists in 223 games for AC Milan before joining the Catalan club.
Hence, a move to Inter could help the player rejuvenate his career. He has so far failed to establish himself as a starter for Xavi's side. With Barcelona looking to generate profit through summer sales, Kessie might head the exit door.
