“So unserious”, “Get him out of my club” - Fans want Manchester United star sold after his struggles in pre-season defeat to Rosenborg

Fans took to social media to express their opinions about Manchester United midfielder Casemiro after the Red Devils suffered a 1-0 loss to Rosenborg BK in their first pre-season friendly. United kicked off preparations for the 2024-25 season at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim against the Norwegian side.

With the Premier League season set to begin in a month's time, the Red Devils were hoping for a rejuvenating start to the pre-season. However, they ended up dredging up memories of last season - where they finished in eighth place - with a defeat.

Casemiro's overall performance in the 45 minutes he spent on the pitch was also another reminder of the previous season. The former Real Madrid midfielder notably saw his form take a shocking turn downhill in the 2023-24 campaign. Despite a break from football this summer, as he did not play for Brazil in the 2024 Copa America, he doesn't seem to have regained his form.

Casemiro struggled to get his tackles in, was dribbled past twice, and got dispossessed twice. He completed only one long pass out of six attempts and seemed unable to keep up with the pace of the match.

After the game, fans took to social media to make it clear that an exit from Manchester United for Casemiro would not be a bad idea:

"Saudi please I’m begging," a fan wrote.
"He is finished. Sell him to Saudis for 50m euros++" another fan told United.
"He needs to go," another added.
"So unserious," a fan complained about Casemiro.
"He’s so bad. Get him out of my club," another demanded.
"Casemiro needs to go!! Seriously he can't keep up with up at all," a fan noted.
"Vitek is so good, Send Casemiro to Saudi," another fan said.

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro headed for Saudi Arabia?

Casemiro was one of the most important members of United's squad in his debut season with the club, 2022-23, but has since seen his form steadily decline. According to reports, he could be the next high-profile player to move to Saudi Arabia.

Manchester United are reportedly intent on removing him from their massive wage bill, and are willing to sell him for much less than the €60 million they signed him for.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia like Al-Qadsiah, Al Ahli, and Al-Hilal have all shown some interest in his services in the past, which could convert into a bid for his services this summer. According to talkSPORT, Casemiro will discuss his future with manager Erik ten Hag later this month.
