"Sometimes you have to suffer"- Carlo Ancelotti makes surprise comments after dropping points in LaLiga title chase
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti shared his thoughts on their 3-3 draw against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday. The two sides played out a thrilling match in LaLiga at Estadio de Vallecas.
Los Blancos came into the match with an opportunity to jump over rivals Barcelona at the top of the table but failed to do so with a draw. After the game, manager Carlo Ancelotti felt that his side could've won 3-0 on the day if not for individual errors. He said that Real Madrid were good in the match but the draw was a fair result in the end.
"It was a fair draw," Ancelotti said (via Tribal Football). I was very nervous in Mallorca and Las Palmas, but not today. Today I saw a team. We played a complete game. We made mistakes because otherwise we would have won 3-0. We don't have a very tall team. Rüdiger and Tchouameni are very strong up front, but the full-backs are not tall. Sometimes you have to suffer and in this respect we suffered."
Real Madrid remained second in LaLiga table, a point behind Barcelona. They will next face CF Pachuca in the Intercontinental Cup final on Wednesday, December 18.
Carlo Ancelotti provides analysis of Real Madrid's thrilling draw against Rayo Vallecano
Los Blancos had a terrible start to their LaLiga clash against Rayo Vallecano as Unai Lopez scored in the fourth minute. The hosts doubled their lead in the 36th minute. However, Federico Valverde (39') and Jude Bellingham (45') restored parity before the break for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
Rodrygo then made it 3-2 in the 56th minute before Isi Palazon secured a draw, scoring for Rayo Vallecano in the 64th minute. Carlo Ancelotti provided his analysis of the match in his post-match press conference, saying (via Tribal Football):
"The game seemed lost and we got back into it. Then we took the lead and later on we lacked decisiveness in the box. The overall assessment of the game is good, I think we did very well for an hour, apart from the start. We played very well until the 2-3, we created a lot of chances. We took the lead and then, when the equaliser came, we tried to win until the last minute.
"Today's was a team that showed solidarity, that competed and that wasn't able to win because of some mistakes. We're on the right track. It ended in a draw and we have to look ahead to the next games. I'm satisfied."
Carlo Ancelotti's side have now drawn four of their 17 LaLiga games this season along with 11 wins and two defeats. They drew just eight of their 38 league matches last season.
