Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq reach agreement to sign Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr teammate: Reports
Al-Ettifaq have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr teammate Abdullah Madu on a permanent transfer this summer. Steven Gerrard's side are keen on strengthening their ranks after a largely disappointing season in 2023-24, where they failed to match the league's top sides.
Al-Nassr have one of the strongest squads in the Saudi Pro League, further made so by the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo in their fold. The Portuguese superstar has helped the club attract several top stars from Europe and beyond over the last 18 months.
Abdullah Madu is a homegrown star for the Knights of Najd, but the arrival of Aymeric Laporte pushed him down in the pecking order. He secured a loan move to Al-Ettifaq for the second half of the 2023-24 season, playing 12 times for Steven Gerrard's side as they finished in sixth place.
X user @ByanNassr has reported now that Madu will return to Al-Ettifaq, this time on a permanent deal from Al-Nassr after an agreement was reached. If all goes to plan, the 31-year-old will join Gerrard's side as a new signing, further adding his experience to their ranks.
Cristiano Ronaldo may also lose another Al-Nassr teammate to Al-Ettifaq before long, seeing as they remain interested in Ivorian midfielder Seko Fofana. The former Lens star spent the second half of the 2023-24 season on loan at Al-Ettifaq and could return to the club on another loan deal.
Al-Nassr have hardly strengthened this summer, with Brazilian goalkeeper Bento their only addition so far.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr keen on Euro 2024 star - Reports
Cristiano Ronaldo may soon get a new teammate from Europe after reports indicated that Al-Nassr have established contacts with Spanish midfielder Dani Olmo.
According to a report from X user @NFC1World, the Saudi giants are prepared to beat the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City to Olmo's signing.
Dani Olmo scored three goals and provided two assists as Spain cruised to the Euro 2024 title in Germany. Playing alongside him for La Roja was Al-Nassr star Laporte, who has surely shown that one can play in the Saudi league and remain among the best.
Olmo should be available for around €60 million this summer after a gentleman's agreement was reached with RB Leipzig, his club. The 26-year-old may decide to remain in Europe or can choose to move to Al-Nassr this summer. The Saudi side have already signed Brazil international goalkeeper Bento from Atletico Paranaense, showing their willingness to spend on the right players.
