"Still can't pass 15 yards", "Playing against us" - Liverpool fans unhappy with star's performance despite 3-2 win over Brighton

Liverpool fans have criticized Jarell Quansah on X after he had a poor performance in their 3-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion. The Reds moved onto the EFL Cup quarter-finals after securing a narrow win at the Falmer Stadium on Wednesday, October 30.

Both sides had several big chances in the first half but were unable to apply the finishing touch. However, Cody Gakpo was able to do just that in the 46th minute, brilliantly curling the ball past a helpless Jason Steele from the edge of the box. The Dutchman then drilled a powerful shot into the back of the net in the 63rd minute to double their lead.

Liverpool appeared to be cruising towards a comfortable win. However, Quansah drifted into midfield in the 81st minute before losing possession following a poor backpass. This led to Simon Adingra halving the deficit with a quick finish following a rebound. Luis Diaz then scored off the near post with a low finish four minutes later to restore the Reds' two-goal advantage.

Unfortunately, for Arne Slot's men, Brighton made it 3-2 in the 90th minute. Tariq Lamptey's shot from distance deflected off Quansah, wrongfooting Vitezslav Jaros in the process.

Liverpool fans were unhappy with Quansah's performance. The 21-year-old centre-back lost his spot in the starting XI to Ibrahima Konate at the start of the season. He also scored an own goal in their 5-1 win against West Ham in the previous round of the EFL Cup. He didn't fare much better against the Seagulls in just his third appearance of the season.

One Liverpool fan posted:

"Quansah still can’t pass 15 yards to his other CB"

Another fan tweeted:

"Quansah is playing against us recently"
