Supercomputer predicts Manchester United will finish 15 points behind Chelsea in disappointing position in league table despite win over Brentford
A supercomputer has predicted Manchester United to finish 15 points behind Chelsea in the Premier League this season. This prediction comes despite their win over Brentford and the Blues' defeat against Liverpool.
The Red Devils have had a poor start to the 2024-25 campaign and have won just four of their 12 games across competitions. They recently broke a run of five games without a win by beating Brentford 2-1 in the league at Old Trafford on October 19. They are 11th in the league table with 11 points in eight games.
However, a supercomputer from CSDB.gg (via Manchester Evening News) doesn't predict a major improvement in Manchester United's form this season. As per the supercomputer, Erik ten Hag's side will finish 10th in the table, marking their lowest-ever finish with 58 points. The record was set last season when they finished eighth.
As per the supercomputer, Chelsea will finish fourth in the Premier League, a whopping 15 points above the Red Devils. The Blues are currently sixth in the table with 14 points. They lost 2-1 against Liverpool at Anfield in their last match on Sunday, October 20.
Notably, Chelsea finished above Manchester United last season as well. They sat sixth in the table, three points above United. However, the Red Devils qualified for the UEFA Europa League by winning the FA Cup and demoted the Blues to the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Chelsea 4th, Manchester United 10th and other bold predictions from supercomputer
The aforementioned supercomputer predicted the entire Premier League table at the end of the 2024-25 season. Taking in various factors, it backed Manchester City to win their record-extending fifth consecutive title. The Cityzens are currently second, a point behind Liverpool, who have been predicted to finish third.
The supercomputer predicted Arsenal to finish second for the third year in a row and Chelsea to finish fourth. Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Aston Villa, and Brentford take the next five spots respectively. Manchester United are 10th in the predicted table, three points above 11th-placed Bournemouth.
Fulham, Nottingham Forest, West Ham United, Everton, Crystal Palace, and Leicester City take up the next six spots respectively. The supercomputer has predicted Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town, and Southampton to finish 18th, 19th, and 20th respectively, and get relegated.
Currently, Crystal Palace and Southampton occupy the relegation zone with Wolves at the bottom of the table.
