"Tailor-made for Real Madrid in terms of the way he plays" - Graeme Souness makes bold claim about exit-linked Liverpool star

Liverpool icon Graeme Souness has made a bold claim regarding the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Scotsman believes that the creative full-back looks set to leave the Merseyside giants to join Real Madrid next summer.

Despite being a key player at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold has entered the final year of his contract with the Reds. With his current deal expiring in June 2025, Graeme Souness reckons the 25-year-old could run down his deal and leave on a free transfer.

Souness has insisted that the England international is tailor-made for Real Madrid. He added that Alexander-Arnold's friendship with Jude Bellingham could play a role in his decision to join Los Blancos. He has also claimed that his former employers might already know that the right-back will leave next summer.

Souness said on William Hill’s Up Three Up Front podcast, as quoted by The Mirror:

“Trent Alexander-Arnold is tailor-made for Real Madrid in terms of the way he plays, and he’s got an unbelievable delivery – not to mention he’s good friends with Jude Bellingham. "

Souness added:

"He could end up at Madrid and that message may already have been relayed to Liverpool. I don’t see any obvious reason to take Trent off against Manchester United, other than if they know he’s leaving."

Souness, who won 15 trophies during his stint at Liverpool as a player and one as the manager, added:

“They’d still want to keep him on side for the rest of the season and he’ll go for free at the end of it. The message that he’s made up his mind may already have been relayed to the higher-ups at the club."

The former Scotland midfielder concluded:

"He’s running his contract down. If you’re going to leave Liverpool, where else other than Real Madrid can you really go to better yourself?”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been a key player for the Merseysiders over the years having come through the club's youth ranks. Despite being a right-back, he has established himself as one of the best creative players in world football with his exceptional vision and passing ability.

He has made 313 appearances for the Reds, scoring 19 goals and providing 81 assists. The England international has helped the club win eight trophies including one Premier League and one Champions League.

Chris Sutton opens up on Mohamed Salah's contract situation at Liverpool

Pundit Chris Sutton has opened up on Mohamed Salah's contract situation at Anfield. The former Celtic striker refuses to believe that the Reds have not even approached the winger regarding a new deal.

Salah's current deal expires next summer and the Egyptian superstar revealed that he has not been contacted by the club regarding an extension. Chris Sutton said about Salah's claims, as quoted by FourFourTwo:

“If the comments that Mo Salah made about not being offered a new Liverpool contract are true, I would find that pretty amazing. Given what he has done at the club, I would find it hard to believe that Liverpool haven’t offered him a new deal or at least had a conversation about it.”

The former Chelsea striker added:

“Salah has come back, he looks super hungry, super fit, and he offers Liverpool great quality. It will be interesting how this one with him pans out. Players and clubs can change their mind. I would be staggered if he carries on this level of form and there isn’t some sort of offer from Liverpool. I’m sure there will be.”

Salah has been excellent for the Merseysiders having joined the club back in 2017 in a reported £34.3 million deal from Roma. He has scored 214 goals and provided 92 assists in 352 appearances for the Merseyside giants while winning eight trophies.
