Lionel Messi left the pitch in tears in the 64th minute in the Copa America final against Colombia on Sunday, July 14. Manager Lionel Scaloni was forced to sub him off when he suffered what looked like a serious right ankle injury.

Lautaro Martinez's goal (119') saved the day for Argentina and helped Messi win his second Copa America title. However, concerns are ripe about the nature of La Pulga's injury. Images during the Copa final showed a massively swollen ankle as Lionel Messi limped out of the pitch and during the celebrations as well.

At the club level, Messi is unlikely to be available for the MLS All-Stars game scheduled on July 24. Inter Miami will then participate in the Leagues Cup set to begin on July 27 and here are doubts about Lionel Messi being available.

Meanwhile, Argentina will compete in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers with six upcoming fixtures, including one against Colombia on September 10. If things go well for Lionel Messi, he could potentially join his La Albiceleste teammates for the qualifiers. However, his recovery will determine his availability as the nature and severity of his injury looks unclear as of now.

In Messi's absence, Inter Miami have been able to hold up their position, sitting second in the Eastern Conference table with 47 points. They are only one point behind table leaders Cincinnati.
