"That’s how it has to be, one compliments the other" - Manchester United star Casemiro hits backs at critics, opens up on outing vs Liverpool
Casemiro has admitted that he has a good connection with Manuel Ugarte at Manchester United. He believes that they complement each other on the pitch, and the new signing is slowly adjusting to the league.
Speaking to the media, Casemiro claimed that Ugarte has the respect of all players at Manchester United despite the slow start to his career at Old Trafford. The Brazilian added that the squad has become better with the new additions and said (via Mirror):
“I have a good connection with him. When one goes forward, the other covers, and vice versa. That’s how it has to be, one compliments the other. I think the other games have been like this. He’s a great person. He’s a good kind of person. Then, little by little, he is also showing that he is a national team player from Uruguay, from a team that has good players. Then he has total respect, not only mine, but all the players. It’s good for us to have good players, so we have a much better squad.”
Casemiro then talked about his disappointing performance against Liverpool. He said:
“Well, everyone can see can’t they? I only had the Liverpool game, right? The whole team was not good in that game, or this season. This match, when the goals are missed, of course it ends up hurting the team more, but I think it’s been a good season for me. I want to continue growing. I want to continue helping my team-mates and the coach, helping Manchester United grow and do well. Everyone knows what my job is.”
Manchester United have not lost across competitions since the sacking of Erik ten Hag. They defeated PAOK and Leicester City twice – in the Carabao Cup and in the league – while drawing at home to Chelsea in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim looking forward to working with Manuel Ugarte at Manchester United
Ruben Amorim has admitted that he is looking forward to working with Manuel Ugarte again. The incoming Manchester United manager stated that he was delighted to be reuniting with the Uruguayan midfielder and said (via Metro):
"All the Uruguayans I managed are incredible and that’s why I love all Uruguayans. Manuel Ugarte is a very talented boy and has a lot of room to grow. I am very happy to know that I have him back at Man United."
Manuel Ugarte played 85 matches under Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP – the most under any manager in his career. The midfielder was signed by Manchester United this summer from Paris Saint-Germain, who had signed him from the Portuguese side in 2023.
