“That’s what I'm concentrating on” - Bayern Munich star sheds light on his future amidst Real Madrid interest

Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has broken his silence with respect to his state of mind amid interest from Real Madrid. The Canada international has been a long-time target for the Spanish champions, and he came close to signing for them in the summer window.

Real Madrid were keen on Davies, with the club looking to move on Fran Garcia to create room for him. The Spanish outfit didn't make an offer to Bayern Munich, however, as they were keen to avoid overpaying for a player in the final year of his contract.

Bayern Munich tried to pressure Alphonso Davies into signing a new deal or moving away from the club, but the 23-year-old did not budge. He has now spoken with BILD about his state of mind, declaring that he remains fully committed to helping his club achieve its goals.

"My full focus is on this team. I'm playing for Bayern Munich now, and that's what I'm concentrating on. I want to win every game. That's why I'm not thinking about it right now. Whether I stay or leave the club, I will always carry this club in my heart.
"You have to talk to my agent about it. My focus right now is on winning every game. I'm not thinking about the other subject at the moment."

Alphonso Davies has made five appearances across competitions for Vincent Kompany's Bayern Munich this season, with three of them being starts. The Canadian defender has recorded one assist, and his side have kept just two clean sheets when he has played.

Real Madrid have the option of offering a pre-contract agreement to Davies in January that will see him join them as a free agent in July. He is interested in a move to Spain and could reach an agreement over the move.

Real Madrid hand defender contract extension despite interest in Bayern Munich ace

Real Madrid have given a contract extension to left-back Ferland Mendy after his display of consistency at the back for the side. This news comes amid rumors of the club closing in on the signing of Alphonso Davies.

Mendy has been troubled by injuries for a while but retains the trust of manager Carlo Ancelotti, who praised him and announced the extension in his pre-Alaves press conference. The Frenchman was set to see his deal with the club expire in 2025 but has now agreed on an extension.

Ancelotti said via BeIN Sports:

“We’re really happy with Mendy. He’s renewed his contract, and he’s doing a great job.”

The interest of Los Blancos in Alphonso Davies has not gone away, and the club are still the front-runners to sign the Bayern man. He may come to the club to compete with Mendy, who is five years his senior.
