"That is what we are working towards" - Chelsea star opens up on the Blues' 'main goal' under Enzo Maresca

Chelsea fullback Renato Veiga has outlined what the club is working towards under Enzo Maresca's guidance. The Portugues star said their main goal was to win silverware as a team and he was hoping he could help the club achieve that.

Veiga talked about his time with the Blues so far and how proud he was to have joined the London-based club. He told the club's official website:

"I'm just grateful to be honest, and trying to enjoy every bit. I'm very happy and proud to be here. It's always a moment of pride to put the shirt on. My parents told me to always try and do my best in every situation. That is exactly what I am doing now. I always want to be the best version of myself I can be.
"There is no better place to do it than at Chelsea. I'm just proud. I want to give my best for this huge club, and win a lot of trophies. That's what we all want. We don't know when, if it's today or tomorrow, but that's our main goal and that is what we are working towards."

Chelsea signed Renato Veiga this summer for a reported £12 million from Basel. He can play both as a left-back and a defensive midfielder.

Enzo Maresca heaps praise on Chelsea star Renato Veiga

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has praised Renato Veiga because of the Portuguese star's versatility. He claimed he was capable of playing as a center-back, left-back, defensive midfielder, and even an attacking midfielder.

He said (via Yahoo Sports):

"I just said to Renato, he has played already as a centre-back, a full-back, holding midfielder, attacking midfielder. He has already played four or five positions. One of my first press conferences, I said that the reason why I really like and love Chelsea is because many players can be versatile. You need to learn more positions. Renato, Malo [Gusto], they are playing in different positions and they are doing well."

Enzo Maresca has named Veiga his second-choice left-back this season ahead of Ben Chilwell, who was once the vice-captain at the club. The Englishman has played just once this season and does not seem to be in the manager's plans.
