"The job’s not finished" - Harry Kane sends message after England's Euro 2024 S/F win over the Netherlands

England captain Harry Kane has sent a strong message to his teammates after the Three Lions beat the Netherlands 2-1 in their EURO 2024 semi-final clash. For the jubilant fans, their joy knew no bounds at Signal Iduna Park, as they entered the final of the EUROs for the second consecutive time.

However, for Harry Kane, the time for jubilation has not yet come. They are set to face a powerful Spain side in the final on July 14 at Olympiastadion Berlin. It will not be an easy clash, but the Three Lions captain is not ready to let La Roja, who have scored 13 goals so far, take charge of the proceedings.

Kane has a chance to win his first-ever major trophy, while also leading England to their first trophy since 1966. He had the chance to do so three years at EURO 2020, but they fell off in the final against Italy, losing in a penalty shootout.

This time around, he wants to go all the way, saying (via Evening Standard):

“We are going to give everything to win. We missed it by one step in the last Euros. That hurt us for a long time. I know it hurt the nation for a long time. We’ve worked extremely hard to get to this moment and we’re going to do everything possible to bring back that trophy.”

Kane continued:

“There was a lot of talk early, understandably, because we weren’t playing as well as I know we can. But ultimately I said judge us after the tournament, judge us when it’s finished. Step by step we’ve been improving and we fully deserve it.
“Of course, there’s that feeling we’ve got one more to go. The job’s not finished. We’ve got to a final, we can be proud of that, but ultimately that’s not why we’re here. We’re here to win it.”

Head coach Gareth Southgate will be hoping to win EURO 2024. If he does, he will put his name in the record books as England's head coach with a major trophy after Sir Alf Ramsey, who led the Three Lions to win the FIFA World Cup in 1966.

EURO 2024: England 2-1 Netherlands brief match review

The EURO 2024 semi-final started with the Three Lions going behind, as Ons Oranje took the quick lead in the seventh minute. Xavi Simons stole the ball from Declan Rice and powered towards the goal before driving the ball into the top corner.

England grew into the game and retaliated, with Harry Kane winning a penalty and converting from the spot. The first half ended with both sides level, but the Three Lions had more chances, and they continued to dominate in the second half.

A goal from Bukayo Saka might have done it, but VAR ruled it offside. However, in the 90th minute, Ollie Watkins, who came on as a substitute for Kane, fired the Three Lions into the EURO 2024 final.
