"The price tag is too high" - Journalist claims Arsenal no longer want to sign PL defender

Jornalist Dean Jones has said that Arsenal have cooled their interest in Nottingham Forest centre-back Murillo. The 22-year-old is coming off a solid 2023-24 season.

Murillo assisted twice in 36 games across competitions, with both assists coming in 32 games in the Premier League, where Forest avoided relegation by finishing 17th, six points clear of 18th-placed Luton Town.

Despite being contracted to Forest till 2028, Murillo has been the subject of interest of top clubs across Europe. On the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, though, Jones said that the Gunners are no longer in the race, explaining (as per TBR Football):

“Yeah the price tag is too high, but they may as well price him at that if it’s Chelsea that are interested.
"Arsenal did have an interest in Murillo last year, maybe even in January, but they have moved on from that so they will not be competing for Murillo anymore, but a really good player, so that will be interesting.”

While he's unlikely to move to the Emirates this summer, Murillo is expected to fetch around £50 million to a Forest side that conceded a whopping 67 goals and barely stayed afloat in the Premier League.
