“There is a possibility for him to move" - Fabrizio Romano provides update on star's future amid links to Barcelona and Arsenal
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Arsenal target Kingsley Coman could leave Bayern Munich this summer. It comes in the wake of the player being linked with a move to the Emirates.
Coman's future at Bayern Munich is currently uncertain, and there is a likely chance that the player could leave the Allianz Arena before the summer transfer window closes.
A couple of clubs have been linked with the highly-rated Bayern Munich winger, notably Arsenal and Barcelona.
Both clubs are reportedly viewed as front runners for Coman's signature, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano. However, it is left to be seen as to which club will show more intent in trying to lure the Frenchman away from Germany this summer.
The Gunners are currently being tipped to add more firepower to their attack, especially after losing Emilie Smith-Rowe to Fulham this summer. Barcelona, on the other hand, could leverage the fact that head coach Hansi Flick had worked with Coman during his time at Bayern.
Coman, meanwhile, could be on his way out of Bayern Munich this summer according to Fabrizio Romano (via TBR football).
"Kingsley Coman, any late window movement for him and is there truth in the links to Arsenal or Tottenham?” Romano was asked.
“There is a possibility for him to move. Bayern are open to finding a solution. He’s an excellent player but on a big salary. It could be an idea for Barcelona, that could be a possibility.” Romano said.
He concluded:
"Let’s see also in England, let’s see with PSG, but there is an opportunity for Coman to try something different, it will be a busy end to the window for his camp, and the expectation is for him to take a new opportunity and try something different.”
The 28-year-old Frenchman's contract at Bayern Munich runs till June 30, 2027.
Mikel Arteta speaks on the chances of Arsenal signing more players
The Gunners haven't quite had a busy transfer window as many would have expected. Thus far, only Riccardo Calafiori has been a major addition to Arsenal's squad.
Meanwhile, with around 10 days to the end of the current transfer window, the north London giants are still being linked with a couple of players. Notable mentions include the likes of Mikel Merino and not forgetting Bayern Munich's Coman.
When asked during an interview if he expects more additions to his squad before the window shuts, head coach Arteta remained coy on potential incomings. In his words, as quoted by ESPN, he said:
"You know that I cannot talk about any other players. After [last] season we had two objectives -- the main and most important one is make sure we are still in love with our players."
He continued:
"Then, OK, if there are still opportunities in the market we will look at them."
Arsenal will next be seen in action against Aston Villa on Saturday, August 24, in a Premier League away fixture.
