“There is pressure” - Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag opens up on his future amidst sack rumors

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes he has the club's backing amid rumors over his sacking. The Red Devils haven't gotten off to the best of starts in the 2024/25 Premier League season, picking up just six points in their first four matches.

This has resulted in the Manchester outfit sitting in 10th in the league standings after a season that saw the Red Devils finish eighth. When quizzed about his future, the Dutch tactician told Sky Sports (via CaughtOffSide) that although there is pressure, he also has the support:

"I know when we are losing, there is pressure, there is noise so I don't have to read these articles what's coming because I know it's there."
"But yes, to answer your question, I feel the backing. I feel we are in this together and we are in a new season and yeah, we will go again for silverware and we will go again to construct a good team and yeah, of course, we hope to do it as in the first season, but if we have say setbacks, we'll deal with it and then still we have to win."

Ten Hag took over as boss of Manchester United in the summer of 2022 and has remained in charge of the club for 120 matches across competitions. He's managed to win a Carabao Cup and an FA Cup each at Old Trafford up until this point.

Up next for the Red Devils is a league match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday (September 21). Currently, the Eagles are 16th and four points short of their upcoming opponents.

While Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is confident about his place as head coach, certain reports claim otherwise. A recent article from Football Insider states that the Dutch coach could be on his way out if the team suffers another defeat in the near future (via CaughtOffSide).

Crystal Palace is the next challenge coming up, a fixture that seems like a certain three points on paper. This report suggests that the Manchester United board could turn on Ten Hag if the current situation continues to persist.

Apart from the Premier League, the Red Devils also have the Europa League to deal with by virtue of their FA Cup success in the previous campaign. They start their European journey with a match against Dutch side Twente on Wednesday (September 25).
