There’s no doubt about it” - Alan Shearer makes confident prediction for Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest
Legendary English striker Alan Shearer has made his prediction for Chelsea's Premier League home game with Nottingham Forest on Saturday (October 5). The Blues have hit a purple patch in recent weeks.
Enzo Maresca's side beat Gent 4-2 at home in their UEFA Europa Conference League opener despite the boss ringing the changes from the side that beat Brighton & Albion 4-2 in the league last weekend.
The Blues are now unbeaten in six games across competitions - winning the last five - while Nottingham are winless in two league games since a 1-0 win at leaders Liverpool last month,
Considering the Blues' rousing form, Shearer expects them to win again, writing in his prediction column for the Metro:
"Chelsea are flying, there’s no doubt about it. Forest had a poor result at home against Fulham and will be looking to bounce back but with the form Chelsea are in, and in particular Cole Palmer, I’d have to say Chelsea will win once again."
The Blues are fourth in the standings, with 13 points from six games, two off leaders Liverpool, having scored a league-high 15 goals.
Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest - a few tidbits
Chelsea have clearly begun to hit their stride under new boss Enzo Maresca - who replaced Mauricio Pochettino this summer. However, the Blues will be mindful of their not-so-promising recent record against Nottingham Forest.
Since Forest's Premier League promotion two years ago, the Blues have won just once in four league meetings, losing one. However, that win - a 3-2 victory on the road in May - came in their most recent clash last season.
Having won this game 1-0 at the Bridge last season, Forest are looking to register consecutive league wins over the Blues for only the second time - and first since all the way back in 1908.
Forest have been impressive on the road in the Premier League - going unbeaten in five - winning four. They are looking to go six straight away league games unbeaten for the first time since November 1995 (12 games), a streak that had started in February that year.
The Blues' six league games have produced a combined 22 goals - the most involving any Premier League side this year. On the contrary, Forest's games have had the fewest goals - 11 - with the visitiors scoring six of them and conceding five.
