"There’s a pretty crazy thing about him" - Kylian Mbappe heaps praise on Liverpool star

France superstar Kylian Mbappe has heaped praise on his teammate and Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate. Mbappe also opened up on the difference between Konate's character on and off the pitch.

Speaking to Ouest-France ahead of Euro 2024, the Real Madrid attacker highlighted how quickly the defender has settled in the French team and said:

"Ibou! Super player and super guy. There's a pretty crazy thing about him: on the field, he's an absolute beast who you don't want to cross, but outside, he's a cream, a very cheerful and friendly guy. He's really melted into the group very quickly.
"In fact, it's like he has been there for ten years, while he arrived two years ago. It is one of his greatest strengths, beyond the footballer who is constantly growing. He takes on importance in the group. He does not hesitate to speak. He is really good. He took the place of holder that occupied, Raph (Varane), in central defence, a game sector with a lot of competition, where we have a sacred pool in France. We are very happy to have him with us."

Kylian Mbappe and Konate have played 16 matches together for France, and have lost just three games.

Liverpool star comments on Kylian Mbappe becoming France captain

Ibrahima Konate spoke to Eurosport in 2023 after Kylian Mbappe was named as the new France captain. He believed that the now Real Madrid forward would be a good captain for the country.

He said:

"He is a young boy who likes to laugh and have fun, nothing more. He is a human being like everyone else and a very good person. Some may think he is arrogant. It's a question I've been asked a lot in my club or elsewhere. But I answer them: 'Are you crazy or what? He's too nice.' Of course, he will be a good captain."

Kylian Mbappe will lead France in the EURO 2024, his first major tournament since being appointed the captain. He was given the armband after Hugo Lloris retired last year.
