"There is a sense of unfinished business around his time with PSG" - Journalist believes the Ligue 1 club should consider appointing former boss

Journalist Jonathan Johnson has urged PSG to consider hiring Carlo Ancelotti as their next manager. He believes that the Italian has unfinished business at the club and should be on their list.

Ancelotti managed PSG for 1.5 years before heading for Real Madrid as the replacement for Jose Mourinho. He managed to win the league in his only full season at the Ligue 1 club, but failed to win any other trophy before asking to leave for Spain.

In his PSG Talk column, Johnson has claimed that appointing Ancelotti is a long shot but something PSG should consider.

He added that the Italian remains one of the big names in the sport and wrote:

"The final possible option is a long shot, given how it finished ten years ago, but the Italian remains a masterful coach, and there is a sense of unfinished business around his time with Paris Saint-Germain."

He continued:

"Perhaps it is too far in the past now, and there is strong interest from the Brazil national team in taking Ancelotti at the end of this season, but the French champions could offer him several years to shape the club as an institution that was supposed to be the idea the first time around."

He added:

"The 63-year-old serial UCL winner remains one of the most prestigious names in the game and could yet have enough left in the tank for one final club project. Leonardo no longer being involved would aid Paris Saint-Germain's chances, but many bridges were burned when Ancelotti left in 2013, and there is no guarantee that those could be fixed to the extent that he would return to Parc des Princes now."

PSG will have to battle Real Madrid and Brazil FA for Ancelotti

Should Paris Saint-Germain decide to go for Carlo Ancelotti, they will face some tough competition from Brazil's FA. Real Madrid are still counting on the Italian next season, but reports suggest there is a small chance of him getting the sack.

Florentino Perez has spoken to Ancelottu and assured him that there is nothing in the rumours, and the Italian will remain in charge for his final contract year. However, reports in Spain suggest Zinedine Zidane and Jose Mourinho have been sounded out regarding a possible return.

Brazil FA have set sights on him since December, when Tite resigned. The president and the players have been open about getting the Real Madrid manager, but he has rebuffed claims.
