“They said we were only beating normal teams” - Barcelona star Lamine Yamal aims subtle dig at Real Madrid after 4-0 El Clasico win
Lamine Yamal took a subtle dig at Real Madrid after Barcelona secured an emphatic 0-4 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu in the El Clasico on Saturday, October 26. The La Masia graduate claimed that La Blaugrana were the best side in the world before referencing their demolition of Los Blancos.
Barcelona blew Real Madrid away with a stunning second half showing in their 11th La Liga game of the 2024-25 season to extend their gap at the summit of the league table. After a first half that saw the visitors dominate play, they came into the second with more force and determination and ran riot.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for La Blaugrana in the 54th minute, with Marc Casado assisting him. Two minutes later, the Pole doubled his side’s lead as he headed home Alejandro Balde’s cross.
Despite being in front, Hansi Flick’s men didn’t take their foot off the gas, and their efforts paid off in the 77th minute as Lamine Yamal scored their third. Raphinha put the cherry on top six minutes from time to earn Barca a famous win at the Bernabeu.
Speaking after the match, Yamal said (via Fabrizio Romano on X):
“We believe we are the best team in the world. They said we were beating only normal teams… now we beat Real Madrid 4-0 at their home. We've proven that we can beat anyone”.
While Lamine Yamal didn’t win the man of the match, he was quite impressive in the game. He had six touches in the opposition box, won possession five times and registered four shots (three on target). He also created three chances, won two duels, made two tackles, and had a Sofascore rating of 7.6.
