"This guy is sensational" - Jamie Carragher hails Liverpool transfer target, believes player is 'going to be a superstar'

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has hailed his former club's transfer target Jamal Musiala after his outstanding performance against Arsenal on Wednesday night, April 17.

Musiala shone in midfield for Bayern Munich last night, guiding his side to a 1-0 home in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Bavarians won the tie 3-2 on aggregate, eliminating Arsenal from the UCL.

The 21-year-old created two big chances, landed both his shots on target and won seven duels. However, his ability on the ball is what amazed Carragher in the CBS Studios. He said (via The Boot Room):

“Musiala, for me, this guy is sensational. I think he’s going to be a superstar. Look what he’s doing at Champions League level, quarter-finals. His ability to run past people, it’s a skill we don’t see so often in the game now. You see one touch, two touch, move the ball on quickly, but seeing somebody dribble at the highest level, it almost feels a little bit like a throwback."

He added:

“He didn’t end up getting a goal or assist at the end of all this but there’s so much to admire from his game and he was a real thorn in the side of Arsenal. You see him going past Declan Rice, the first clip showed him going past Jorginho. That’s what you very rarely see – players in central positions dribbling past their opposition.”

According to The Independent, Liverpool are keen on signing Musiala in the summer transfer window, with his contract with Bayern ending in 2026. He has had a good season so far, netting 12 goals and providing seven assists in 36 appearances across competitions.

Liverpool will be hoping to secure a heroic comeback against Atalanta in upcoming Europa League Q/F clash

Liverpool will be aiming to recreate their iconic 4-3 comeback against Barcelona in the 2019 UCL semi-finals as they face Atalanta tonight (April 18). The two sides are set to face each other in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie at the Gewiss Stadium.

Atalanta deservedly secured an impressive 3-0 win in the first leg at Anfield. The Reds were left to rue their wastefulness as the Serie A outfit led through goals from Gianluca Scamacca (38', 60') and Mario Pasalic (83').

Liverpool have been in poor form as of late and have failed to win their last three games across all competitions. Moreover, there have been 132 games in which the away team has won the first leg by three or more goals in Europa League history.

The Reds would be the first club to ever overturn such a deficit if they were to go through tonight.
