“This shirt is very historical, Yamal” - Santos extend unique proposal to Lamine Yamal after he’s spotted wearing Neymar jersey on vacation
Santos have extended a unique proposal to Lamine Yamal after the Barcelona prodigy was spotted donning Neymar's iconic jersey on vacation. The 17-year-old is currently one of the most exciting talents in world football. He helped Spain win the Euro 2024 title most recently.
The winger is now enjoying his holiday in Greece as he gets some much-needed rest ahead of the upcoming season. During his vacation, Lamine Yamal posted a picture of himself wearing the No. 11 Santos jersey, which led to the club giving a reaction on social media.
The Brazilian club's account on X posted Yamal's picture with the caption (via Barca Universal):
"This shirt is very historical, Yamal. We are going to give you the new Sacred Mantle. If you prefer, you can come take it in Vila Belmiro and take the opportunity to visit the Sacred Temple of world football during your vacation. Greetings in black and white, Niño de la Vila!"
Neymar notably grew into one of the most exciting talents in football at a young age, while he was at Santos. He made his debut for the club's first team at the age of 17, unlike Lamine Yamal, who debuted for Barcelona's first team at 16.
The Brazilian spent four successful years with the Blaugrana, scoring 105 goals in 186 games across all competitions. In that period, he helped the club win two La Ligas, three Copa del Rey titles, and a UEFA Champions League trophy, among others.
