"This is what we want from him" - Ancelotti praises Kylian Mbappe's performance in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Getafe
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has praised Kylian Mbappe's performance in their 2-0 win against Getafe on Sunday, December 1. The Frenchman scored his side's second goal of the match in the 38th minute after being set-up by Jude Bellingham.
Speaking to the media after the match, Ancelotti stated that he was happy with the overall performance from the former PSG star. He said (via MadridXtra on X):
"Kylian Mbappé? He played very well, he scored a very important goal. Very active game. This is what we want from him."
Jude Bellingham had opened the scoring from the penalty spot on Sunday before Mbappe's strike as Real Madrid ran out 2-0 winners. They are now just a point behind leaders Barcelona, but can jump above the Catalan side if they win their game in hand against Valencia.
Kylian Mbappe was challenged by Real Madrid manager last week
Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media ahead of the Getafe clash and admitted that he was expecting more from Kylian Mbappe. The manager added that he was looking for the striker to deliver on the pitch, just like every other Real Madrid player who has failed to deliver this season.
He said via (TribalFootball):
"His problem is everyone's problem. We must try to get the best out of ourselves: his, mine and that of other players. The problem is not with one player, but with a team that has not been able to have continuity or get the best out of itself. Our idea is to improve and do everything possible to achieve that. Mbappé's idea is the same as everyone else's."
"It's not an individual problem for a player who is new, who is adapting, has scored goals and has participated in the attacking play with assists. He can do better, like all of us. He is aware that he has to do better and he will try, like everyone else. The Liverpool game is centred on him because he missed the penalty, but many have missed a penalty, and we have to try to continue supporting and think that it is a collective problem."
Real Madrid have not made the best of starts in the UEFA Champions League and sit 24th in the table. They lost 2-0 to Liverpool last week after losses to AC Milan and LOSC Lille earlier this season.
