Thomas Muller-owned horse wins gold at 2024 Paris Olympics as Germany add to medal tally
A horse owned by Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has won gold at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics. According to 433, Checker, a horse partly owned by Muller won the Olympic gold medal for Germany in the individual jumping category.
As per Talksport, Muller's horse won gold under the control of German horse rider Christian Kukuk. The pair clocked an impressive 38.34 seconds jump to clinch the first position.
When he is not engrossed with football, the ex-Germany international trains horses at a stud he manages with his wife. The gold medal-winning horse was raised at the Muller's farm and is co-owned by German entrepreneur Madeleine Winter-Schulze. Germany last won a medal in the individual horse jumping event in 2004, and their last gold came back in 1996.
Thomas Muller has been enjoying time off football with the summer break. The 34-year-old announced his retirement from International football after Euro 2024 hosted by Germany. In 131 games for Die Mannschaft, he scored 45 goals and provided 41 assists. Muller is the most decorated German footballer in history with 32 trophies
Thomas Muller eyeing a 16th successive season with Bayern Munich
Thomas Muller will feature in his 16th consecutive season with Bayern Munich when the 2024-25 season commences. However, it is expected that the 34-year-old will play a peripheral role under new coach Vincent Kompany's setup.
With 242 goals and 268 assists in 707 appearances, he is the longest-serving and most experienced player at the Allianz Arena. Muller's experience would be needed to help galvanize a young Bayern Munich squad who will be looking to return to their best under the young manager.
The Munich-based club will hope to better their performances of the previous season. Last term, they missed out on a record-extending 12th consecutive Bundesliga title, recording their first trophyless campaign since the 2011-12 season.
