Thomas Muller sends message to Hansi Flick ahead of Barcelona appointment
Former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick is reportedly set to take over as the new boss at FC Barcelona. Flick's former player Thomas Muller has wished for the German head coach's success at Camp Nou.
Speaking from the Euro 2024 camp, where Muller is currently representing Germany, the Bayern Munich attacker said (as per @iMiaSanMia via Bavarian Football Works):
“I’m happy for Hansi, I know him very well. The two FCBs are hot spots, especially for coaches, because expectations are always very high. I hope he can celebrate a lot of success there."
Muller and Flick have previously worked together at Bayern Munich and Germany. Flick led Bayern Munich to a historic sextuple before taking over the job as the head coach of the German national team. However, his time in the German camp came to a premature end after just eight months.
As per multiple sources, Flick is set to take over at Barcelona, who recently parted ways with Xavi Hernandez after finishing second in La Liga behind Real Madrid.
Xavi's message for potential new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick
During his final press conference as manager of the club, Xavi parted a warning shot at the new boss set to take over at Barcelona. Speaking after his team's 2-1 win against Sevilla on Sunday (May 26), Xavi said (via Goal):
"To the new manager, I tell you: You will suffer. This is a difficult job and you have to be patient."
Xavi added his work was not given the due credit by the club.
"I think that our work has not been appreciated enough. I took over when the team was in ninth place, finished the season in second place, and won the league the next season."
Barcelona also won the Super Copa de Espana in Xavi's first full season in charge at the club.
