Toni Kroos cites Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos example when explaining how Real Madrid can adapt without him
Toni Kroos has backed Real Madrid to adapt without him, just like they did without Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos. He claims that the two legends were important, but still, they managed to win two Champions League titles after their exit.
Speaking on his podcast, Kroos claimed that Real Madrid are going to do well without him. He does not think the Spanish giants will miss him and has backed the current players to step up and deliver. He said:
“Real Madrid has adapted when Cristiano left, when Ramos left... they’ve always adapted and stayed winning. We won the UCL twice without, for example, the two mentioned, although they were very important & are absolute legends. The same will happen to me now.”
He added:
“My departure can’t be undone, it’s a fact that has to be accepted and there’s no point in saying: He’s missing! What’s the point? It doesn’t change for the next game. It doesn’t do anyone any good to say: He’s missing. Of course, it’s a compliment that you were important in some way, but it’s about how you adjust that now.”
Toni Kroos called it quits at the end of last season and retired from all forms of football. He won La Liga and UEFA Champions League in his final season with Real Madrid but could not win EURO 2024 with Germany at home.
Toni Kroos confirms he follows Real Madrid and wants them to do well
Toni Kroos said that he watches Real Madrid's matches and admitted that it feels strange as he is no longer involved. He added that he does not feel the urge to get back on the pitch and said on his podcast:
“I watch Real Madrid matches from a different perspective—it feels kind of strange. But I still see them as part of the team, you can’t just switch that off. Yet, I don’t feel the urge to say, ‘I really want to be out there playing myself’."
"I always hope it goes really well for Real Madrid for 2 reasons: I genuinely wish for all of them to win. But also because I’ve often read that I’m missed. It’s nice to hear, but, I don’t want to hear it, because it feels disrespectful to those who are playing.”
Toni Kroos played 465 matches at Real Madrid after joining from Bayern Munich. He scored 28 times and assisted 99 times in his career with Los Blancos.
