"Too late for a career change?" – Boxer Chris Eubank Jr sends message to Erik ten Hag after training with Manchester United on pre-season tour
British boxer and Manchester United supporter Chris Eubank Jr has jokingly sent a message to Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag, claiming he is ready to switch careers.
Eubank Jr, who last locked horns with middleweight rival Liam Smith in September 2023, is currently in the United States. He recently took part in a training session in Los Angeles, where the Red Devils lost 2-1 to Arsenal in a pre-season contest this Wednesday (July 27).
The 34-year-old recently shared a video on his Instagram story where he was seen training alongside a few Manchester United stars. He also shared images with two Red Devils players, namely Mason Mount and Marcus Rashford, on Instagram. He captioned the post:
"Too late for a career change? PUT ME IN COACH!! @manchesterunited."
Last summer, Eubank Jr opined on supporting United (h/t talkSPORT):
"I know these guys, I've followed them for years. They're a great bunch of boys. I'm close with a few of them. We're athletes and they appreciate the things that I do in the boxing ring. We all know how hard and dedicated you have to be to make it to the top."
The two-time IBO super-middleweight champion continued:
"These guys are at the top of their sport, so we vibe with each other. The energy is very exciting. I'm very excited to see how this squad does, there's a lot of potential and I think they're going to go far."
Fabrizio Romano offers transfer updates on Manchester United's pursuit of 2 defenders
In his Daily Briefing column for Caught Offside, journalist Fabrizio Romano shared updates on Manchester United's pursuit of Bayern Munich pair Matthis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. He wrote:
"There's nothing more to discuss with Matthijs de Ligt's agent as United already agreed on terms with the player weeks ago. There have been no fresh contacts, though they have spoken about Noussair Mazraoui, who is another client of Rafaela Pimenta. The problem is only on Bayern side as they insist on a €50 million guaranteed fee, while United want to use add-ons as part of the deal."
De Ligt, 24, would emerge as a crucial starter for Manchester United should he opt to join them this summer. The former Ajax man has scored five goals and provided two assists in 73 games for Bayern.
Mazraoui, on the other hand, has registered one goal and eight assists in 55 total appearances for the Vincent Kompany-coached side so far.
