“Took 6 years off of my life”, “Playing nonsense” - Fans slam France superstar for poor display during 0-0 draw in Euro 2024 vs Netherlands

Fans have slammed Antoine Griezmann for his poor performance in France's Euro 2024 clash against the Netherlands. The match ended without any goals being scored, with both sides failing to provide the clinical edge required. However, it is not as though they were unable to find chances to make things happen.

Xavi Simons powered the ball into the back of the net with a fierce strike to open the scoring. However, the joys of the Dutch men were shortlived, as it was eventually ruled out for offside.

There were a combined 23 shots at goal, with a total of seven on target, but no one had a better chance than Antoine Griezmann. The forward received a cut back from Adrien Rabiot, who was one-on-one with the goalkeeper and should have taken a shot. However, he missed woefully from close range. The 33-year-old took five shots at goal, but he was unable to score, struggling to lead the line in Kylian Mbappe's absence.

Fans took to social media after the Euro 2024 game to slam his performance.

"Griezmann was the worst man of the match," one fan complained.
"Antoine Griezmann took 6 years off of my life today, abysmal performance," another added.
"Griezmann, can’t believe his performance. And the corners he took for last 2 matches… when will Deschamps face the reality that Griezmann is getting old?" a fan asked.
"Griezmann denied Kante two beautiful assists smh. What a wasteman," an X user wrote.
"griezmann you almost had me dead twice with those misses," one fan added.
"Griezmann wore timberland boots today," another mocked.

Kylian Mbappe benched as France endure goalless draw in Euro 2024 clash

Kylian Mbappe was a vital piece of France's attacking puzzle in their 1-0 win over Serbia, as he provided the assist for the own goal by Maximillan Wober. This time around against the Netherlands, they did not have their star man available.

During the Serbia game, Mbappe suffered a broken nose during a duel with Kevin Danso, leading to questions about France continuing without the forward. However, he was fit enough to make the bench for their second Euro 2024 match, but head coach Didier Deschamps did not give him any minutes.

The forward could only watch on the sidelines as France struggled - and failed - to score and secure three points to guarantee their Euro 2024 knockout spot. He will hope he is fit enough for the final group game against Poland to improve their chances.
