Like former Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Antonela Roccuzzo and Sofia Balbi are also close friends. The two families were neighbours during Suarez’s six-year stay in Barcelona and frequently went on vacations together.

When Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo's heartfelt message reduced Barcelona legend Luis Suarez’s wife Sofia Balbi to tears

In the summer of 2020, Barcelona made the shocking decision of selling Luis Suarez to La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid for a mere €9 million fee. It not only ended Messi and Suarez’s six-year-long partnership at the Camp Nou but also separated Messi's family from the Uruguayan’s.

After the transfer was confirmed, Antonela penned a heartfelt message on social media, revealing how much she would miss her dear friend Sofia. She wrote (via The Sun):

"Bolu, my friend, my sister… thank you for so many years together. For so many laughs, so many mates and unending chats. You were like family for us. I can't tell you how much, so very much, I'm going to miss you and your amazing family.
"Thank you for everything! Let's hope life keeps giving us moments (to spend) together, and I'm sure we'll see each other again soon! I love you, your (family). All the best with this new step."

Sofia replied promptly:

"And when I thought I had no more tears I found this! Thank you for so much of what you said and for all that we have left to live …I love you, I adore you."

Suarez and Messi played 258 games together at Barcelona, combining for 99 goals. Between 2014 and 2020, the pair helped the Blaugrana to four La Liga and one Champions League trophy among many titles.
