Trevoh Chalobah shares message after leaving Chelsea on loan to join Crystal Palace
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah shared his first post on social media since departing Stamford Bridge to join Crystal Palace on a season-long loan. The English defender was frozen out at his boyhood club before eventually choosing to head out on loan on transfer deadline day.
A Chelsea academy graduate, Chalobah had loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield, and FC Lorient before establishing himself as a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge in 2022.
The versatile defender has racked up 80 senior appearances for the Blues but found himself out of favor at the club this summer. New coach Enzo Maresca decided against taking him on the club's pre-season tour of the USA, indicating that he had to leave the club.
Trevoh Chalobah had interest throughout the window but eventually chose to join Crystal Palace on a straight loan on the last day of the transfer window. The defender took to X to share his thoughts after the move, posting a photo of himself in a Palace shirt with an inspirational message.
"But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength 🙏."
Chalobah joins the Eagles to provide central defensive cover after the club sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham. He will be reunited with Marc Guehi, with whom he played in the Chelsea academy, at Selhurst Park.
Trevoh Chalobah will watch from the stands when the Blues take on his temporary side in the Premier League on Sunday, September 1. The 25-year-old is ineligible to play due to the match being against his parent club, and his late registration with Palace.
Chelsea striker completes season-long loan move
Chelsea striker Armando Broja has completed a temporary transfer to fellow Premier League side Everton on transfer deadline day. The Albanian striker will play for the Toffees in the 2024-25 season, with the Merseyside club retaining an option to sign him permanently.
Broja struggled under Mauricio Pochettino in the 2023-24 season, featuring only 13 times in the league before moving to Fulham in January. The 22-year-old made only eight appearances for the Cottagers before the season ended.
Armando Broja barely featured in Enzo Maresca's pre-season team. The club made it clear that they were willing to accept offers for him as they sought to move him on.
Chelsea thought they had agreed a deal with Ipswich Town for the loan of Broja, but a failed medical meant that the striker returned to the club. He will now head out on his fourth loan spell, following spells with Vitesse Arnhem, Southampton, and Fulham.
