"United can still do damage" - Ex-Manchester United star outlines what should be Ruben Amorim's 'main target' as Manchester United boss

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has stressed the need for Ruben Amorim to instill an identity at the club. He believes that United have a good squad but the new head coach will have to start by laying down the foundations for them to eventually compete.

The Red Devils sacked Erik ten Hag on October 28 and soon announced the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. He stayed at Sporting CP for three more games and started at Manchester United on November 11. Louis Saha has now explained what Amorim needs to do at the start of his tenure, saying (via Mirror):

“In recent years, Manchester United have continued to show that they’re capable of reaching finals and I still believe that this squad is good enough and capable enough of doing it again. Winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League is going to be an aim for Ruben Amorim, but getting United to play consistently well will be as good as a trophy.
"If Ruben can do this by implementing an identity, then that will build the foundation for this team to win the type of trophies that we want, which is the Premier League title. We want it back and any other trophy Amorim can win in the meantime is a bonus.
"The main target for the manager is to create that momentum, that belief and that spirit. We saw all of those things in his Sporting Lisbon team.”

Ruben Amorim's first game in charge of the club will be against Ipswich Town at Portman Road in the Premier League on Sunday, November 24.

Ruben Amorim open to offloading Manchester United star as the club line up replacement: Reports

As per Il Mattino (via CaughtOffside), Ruben Amorim is interested in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli next summer. This could see Joshua Zirkzee move to the Italian side in a player-plus-cash deal.

Manchester United signed Zirkzee from Bologna for a reported fee of €42.5 million in the summer. He had an excellent start to life at Old Trafford as he scored in a 1-0 win over Fulham at home in the Premier League. However, the Dutchman has failed to score in 16 games across competitions since then, providing just two assists.

Hence, as per the aforementioned report, Ruben Amorim is open to letting him leave next summer. He and the Red Devils are interested in signing Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is currently out on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli and has registered eight goals and four assists in nine games this season. He is likely to leave the Italian side permanently next summer.
