Vinicius Jr does Kylian Mbappe’s signature celebration after allowing latter to take penalty in Real Madrid's win over Sociedad

Vinicius Junior did Kylian Mbappe's signature celebration during Real Madrid's 2-0 La Liga win over Real Sociedad on Saturday (September 14). The incident hinted at a budding partnership between two of the best players in the world.

Los Blancos struggled to take control of the game at the Reale Arena before Arda Guler's shot hit Sergio Gomez's arm in the box in the 57th minute. Vinicius stepped up and gave his team the lead from the spot.

Real Madrid were awarded another penalty later in the game after the Brazilian was brought down in the box. This time, the 24-year-old offered Kylian Mbappe the chance to get on the scoresheet, and the French superstar obliged. Following the goal, the duo celebrated together.

Vinicius has been Los Blancos' poster boy in recent seasons, helping the club achieve tremendous success. He scored 24 goals and set up 11 more from 39 games last season, helping the La Liga giants secure the league, the Champions League, and the Supercopa de Espana.

The Brazilian is also among the frontrunners for the Ballon d'Or this year. However, Kylian Mbappe's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu has probably threatened to steal his limelight.

Real Madrid have had their eyes on the Frenchman for ages and managed to secure his services on a Bosman move this summer. Mbappe arrived at the club as an established star, following his exploits for Les Bleus and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Kylian Mbappe prefers to operate in a left-forward role, a position that belongs to Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid. Thus, the Frenchman has been forced to play centrally for Los Blancos so far and is yet to hit his explosive best.

The Brazilian was linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer but opted to stay. He reportedly turned down a colossal proposal from the Middle East as he wants to achieve more success with the La Liga giants.

However, Mbappe's arrival has affected his game and there have been rumours of a rift between the two players. The duo have been seen arguing on the pitch during previous games, further adding fuel to the fire. Mbappe was the sole superstar at PSG but that is not the case at Real Madrid.

However, the latest developments should put all those rumours to bed. It seems that the duo are finally warming up to each other and that can only be good news for Los Blancos.
