Vinicius Jr responds after being told he has won more trophies than Barcelona and Atletico since arriving at Real Madrid
Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr has taken a cheeky dig at Barcelona and Atletico Madrid after winning the FIFA Intercontinental Cup. He was asked about his feelings after picking up more titles than the two Spanish rivals since his arrival at the club, and he claimed that he was not surprised as he was playing for the biggest club in the world.
Speaking to the media after the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, Vinicius Jr stated that the history of Real Madrid shows that they are successful and will always win more than their rivals. He said:
"More titles than Barcelona & Atlético Madrid since my arrival? I just follow what history asks of me, we're chosen to play in the biggest club in the world, I continue to fulfill my dream. Not all players can wear Real Madrid's shirt, we are a select few."
The Brazilian was still furious about not winning the Ballon d'Or and critical of those who did not vote for him in FIFA The Best Awards. He sent a message to the critics after the match and said:
"Those who didn't vote for me will change their mind."
Vinicius Jr picked up the FIFA The Best award earlier this week after losing out on the Ballon d'Or to Manchester City star Rodri. He and everyone from Los Blancos had boycotted the Ballon d'Or gala after they were informed that the Spaniard was winning the award.
Vinicius Jr plans to stay at Real Madrid for years to come
Vinicius Jr has once again insisted that he has no plans to leave Real Madrid amid interest from the Saudi Pro League. He wants to remain at Santiago Bernabeu and win trophies and said via MadridXtra:
"I hope to stay at Madrid for many years, winning titles."
It was not the first time the Brazilian spoke about his desire to stay with the Spanish giants. In 2021, during an interview with DjMaRiiO on Post United, he said:
"It was always my dream [to join Madrid]. Every kid in Brazil dreams of playing here, because there were many Brazilians who succeeded here and I want to make history like them. We are working to achieve that."
"At the beginning it was difficult; there were lots of changes, the language, you have to adapt quickly. But I was with my family and friends and that helped me. It was difficult, but now I'm in love with Real Madrid and I want to stay here for many years and make history at this club."
Vinicius Jr has scored 96 goals and assisted 84 times for Los Blancos in his 284 matches for the club.
