The X account of the Argentina national team has posted a hilarious video featuring rapper Pitbull's song in the background. That comes after they won the 2024 Copa America, their fourth trophy in as many years.
They won the 2021 edition of the Copa America before taking the same form into the 2022 Finalissima, where they beat then European champions Italy 3-0. They continued to impress, winning the FIFA World Cup in 2022. They have now come full circle, defending their Copa America title with a 1-0 extra-time win over Colombia.
The video posted on their X account is a tribute to their recent haul of trophies. It features goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez dancing, Lionel Messi lifting the trophy, Miami beaches and moments of delight and excitement. Here's the video:
Lionel Messi came off in the second half of the final against Colombia due to a swollen ankle. In the second half of extra time, Giovani Lo Celso set up Lautaro Martinez for a 112nd winner, with the forward running to Messi to celebrate as La Albiceleste held on for the win.
Argentina manager shares joy in winning Copa America 2024
Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni has expressed his joy in winning the 2024 Copa America.
The World Cup winning head coach has been at the forefront of one of the best eras in La Albiceleste history, leading them to four trophies. After the win against Colombia, he said (via RFI):
"I don't know if it marks an era, but it's true this team never ceases to surprise, they overcame the difficulties of a very difficult match, with a very complicated opponent and without a good first half.
"In the second half I think we improved and deserved to win and then always in extra time, in the long run the team always finds something extra, so it's gratifying to see them play and I'm eternally grateful for the way they give their all."
With the World Cup title defence coming in 2026, Scaloni will look forward to the challenge with an in-form Argentina side that are the best in the continent.
