England put up an underwhelming display against Switzerland and were on the back foot for most of the match.

After a goalless first half, the Swiss compiled a perfect attack as Fabian Schar spread the ball wide to Dan Ndoye on the right flank who delivered a low cross into the penalty box. Breel Embolo came rushing into the box and directed it away from Pickford's reach to open the scoring n the 75th minute.

The Three Lions, though, restored parity within five minutes. Bukayo Saka received the ball on the right side, cut into the centre and produced an immaculate effort with his left foot that cannoned off the crossbar and into the Swiss net.

The goal pushed the match to extra time and penalties, which Southgate's side won to reach the next round. The goal also made Saka become the only Arsenal player to score in both the FIFA World Cup and the Euros for the Three Lions.
