Watch: Ousmane Dembele's hilarious celebration with France teammates after winning Man of the Match vs Portugal at EURO 2024

France winger Ousmane Dembele was named Man of the Match after his brilliant display in the Euro 2024 quarter-final against Portugal on Friday, July 5. The Paris Saint-Germain star man celebrated his award with his teammates after Les Bleus eliminated the Euro 2016 champions on penalties (5-3) in Hamburg.

Pre-tournament favorites France have struggled in front of goal throughout the tournament, scoring only three times in five games. Out of the three goals, one came from the penalty spot, with the other two being own goals. Against Portugal, their attacking struggles were laid bare, with both teams failing to break the deadlock in 120 minutes.

Ousmane Dembele, who came on for Antoine Griezmann in the 67th minute, was arguably the best player on the night. After being named Man of the Match, his teammates celebrated with him with a funny dance.

Dembele's introduction breathed new life into the French team and he showed his quality in the remainder of the match. The former Barcelona man also stepped up to take the first penalty kick for France in the shootout, with captain Kylian Mbappe on the bench.

Dembele completed six of eight dribbles as he gave Portugal a lot to think about.

France end Portugal's Euro 2024 dreams

France marched on in their quest for Euro 2024 glory while ending the hopes of Portugal. Les Bleus triumphed 5-3 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes of football.

The French and Portuguese defenses worked hard to keep clean sheets, ensuring the match reached a penalty shootout. Having won their Euro 2024 Round of 16 shootout against Slovenia days earlier, Portugal were confident of their chances.

While France converted all five of their spot-kicks, Portugal's Joao Felix saw his effort miss the target as the Selecaos were eliminated from the continental competition.

France will next Spain in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Tuesday, July 9.
