“Watching Arsenal is like watching Netflix” - Evra makes hilarious ‘wait’ for next season claim amid Manchester United vs Gunners comparison
Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has made a hilarious comment about Arsenal in a recent interview. The Frenchman insists that his former club should not be compared to the highflying London side despite their struggles and compared the Gunners to a Netflix offering.
The Red Devils have been poor recently, ending last season in eighth place and on a negative goal difference in the Premier League. Despite that, they claimed the FA Cup at the end of the campaign, while Mikel Arteta's side finished second in the league. They have failed to claim any major silverware since their own success in the FA Cup back in 2020.
Evra spoke about the fate of his former club with his one-time teammate at the club, Rio Ferdinand on his podcast Rio Ferdinand presents FIVE. The former left-back said:
“I respect Arsenal, but watching Arsenal is [like] watching Netflix. You always wait for the next season. Trust me, every season is going to be like that. So don’t even get involved [in comparing Manchester United to Arsenal]. Of course, United are a disaster right now but please don’t compare with Arsenal.”
The Red Devils are set to embark on another reset following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag from his position as manager on October 28. The Dutchman has overseen a poor campaign that sees the 20-time English champions occupy 14th place in the league standings after nine games.
"It was about time Erik ten Hag was sacked by Manchester United"- Former Arsenal star shares opinion on Ten Hag sacking
Former Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit has had his say on Manchester United parting ways with Dutch manager Erik ten Hag. The former Ajax boss oversaw a poor run of form with the club and was handed his marching orders on Monday after his side's 2-1 loss to West Ham United on Sunday.
Ten Hag had led the club to two domestic cup wins in his time in charge of the club, however, his performances in the league continued to worsen over time. Petit believes it was a matter of time before the club decided to part ways with the manager, telling Jeffbet via GOAL:
"It was about time Erik ten Hag was sacked by Manchester United. I'm sorry to say that and I pity him because lots of the players at the club are far from their best. They concede goals easily, they are a mess. Ten Hag had no support from the fans, the club or the players, but he is responsible for a lot of the issues. Players must share this responsibility, though, they are the reason he's been sacked."
The former Gunners star concluded:
"The only consistent thing at Manchester United now is their average performance, which has been happening for years now. Even with a change of manager, nothing will change."
The Red Devils will now begin their search for a new manager to lead the club through the rest of the season. The FA Cup winners will hope they can return to winning ways in their next match on Wednesday (October 30) when they host Leicester City in the EFL Cup.
