“We can ask anyone in the squad” - Luke Shaw exposes Arsenal star as a closet Manchester United fan
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has made an astonishing claim about Arsenal star Bukayo Saka. The Englishman claimed his international teammate was a closet Manchester United supporter.
England secured an emphatic victory in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals against Switzerland, courtesy of a brilliant display from Saka. The Three Lions went 1-0 down in the 75th minute after Breel Embolo found the back of the net for the Swiss.
Saka grabbed the equalizer five minutes later with an extraordinary strike from outside the box, earning a lifeline for Gareth Southgate's side. The England international converted his spot-kick as well in the penalty shootout, avenging his Euro 2020 miss.
The Three Lions went on to win 5-3 on penalties and could do so thanks to the Arsenal winger's heroics. Speaking on the latest episode of the Lions' Den on England's official YouTube channel, Saka and Shaw discussed his performance against Switzerland.
Saka was asked to rank that goal amongst the others he's scored during his career. However, he chose his three career goals against Manchester United as his favorite, and Shaw was taken aback.
The Manchester United left-back responded (via football.london):
"It's because he supports United, that's why it's his favourite."
Saka hit back and said:
"Look at him, he's trying to do all this lying again!"
To which, Shaw replied:
"I'm lying? Be honest. We can ask anyone in the squad. He's so bad [at lying]."
The Three Lions will next face the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Wednesday (10 July).
"He was dancing” - Manchester United's Luke Shaw reveals how Arsenal star Bukayo Saka celebrated after England's win over Switzerland
Speaking on the aforementioned show on England's YouTube channel, Luke Shaw has opened up about how Bukayo Saka celebrated their emphatic victory over Switzerland.
Shaw revealed that the Arsenal star was rather zealous and jubilant. When asked by presenter Josh Denzel about rumors that he'd heard of Saka dancing on the plane, the Manchester United defender said:
“He was a little bit, he was a bit louder than usual. He was vibing on his own and he was dancing.”
Saka hilariously replied:
“Why are you doing this to me, man?”
Shaw went on to hail the winger's performance against the Swiss, insisting that it was deserved.
Saka has earned 38 caps since his senior debut for the Three Lions in 2020, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. Shaw has 32 caps to his name, recording three goals and nine assists.
