"We'll discuss with each other" - Joshua Kimmich comments on his future amid interest from PSG and Barcelona
Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has said that he's focussed on his current club amid links with PSG and Barcelona.
Kimmich, 28, has been a key first-team player for Bayern since making his first-team debut in the 2015-16 season. The versatile midfielder has made 361 appearances across competitions, contributing 41 goals and 100 assists. That includes a goal and six assists in 21 games across competitions this term.
The Germany international is contracted with Bayern till 2025 and will enter the final year of his deal this summer. PSG and Barcelona are interested in his services (as per FCBN).
Nevertheless, Kimmich said that he plans to sit down for talks with Bayern soon, adding that the conversations will be between player and club.
"I'm actually just focused on Bayern," he said (as per Bayern & Germany). "For me, that (a move) wasn't a topic at all in winter. I think at some point the club will approach me and we'll sit together. Everything that will be discussed, we'll discuss with each other - and not with you (the media)"
Joshua Kimmich is valued at €75 million by Transfermarkt, which could put him out of Barcelona's reach, considering their well-documented financial travails.
When PSG and Barcelona target Joshua Kimmich lambasted Bayern Munich for their inconsistent displays
Bayern Munich are having a far from ideal season, considering their lofty standards. They are only alive in two competitions after losing early in the DFB-Pokal and losing the DFL-Super Cup final (3-0 to RB Leipzig).
With 41 points after 16 games, Thomas Tuchel's side are a point behind surprise leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Although Bayern won their UEFA Champions League group, they have conceded many avoidable goals throughout the season.
Following a come-from-behind 2-2 Bundesliga draw with Leipzig, the PSG and Barcelona target had said (as per GOAL):
"It's just stupid how we concede the goals. We're having problems against top teams at the moment. We didn't get it done against Leverkusen. We didn't get it done now against Leipzig - and we also got erratic against Manchester United.
"We're just having problems doing it consistently well over the 90 minutes against the top teams."
Bayern will next be in action at home to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga on January 21.
