"We'll be talking about this in 20 years time" - Alan Shearer on Manchester United man's missed chance in loss to West Ham

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer believes Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot's miss against West Ham United on Sunday, October 27, will be spoken about in 20 years' time. United suffered a 2-1 defeat to the Hammers in the Premier League at London Stadium.

The Red Devils were presented with an opportunity to take the lead against the Hammers in the 32nd minute. Bruno Fernandes cheekily delivered a ball over the top to Dalot, who was onside.

Dalot flicked the ball over Łukasz Fabiański but then somehow managed to blaze the ball over the bar with the net gaping. This left the fans, the players, and even manager Erik ten Hag in disbelief.

At halftime, Alan Shearer delved into the details of Manchester United's performance. He called the Portuguese defender's miss one of the "worst in the Premier League era".

Shearer said (via UtdFaithfuls):

"Dalot's miss is one of the worst misses in the Premier League era. We'll be talking about this in 20 years' time."

Goals from Crysencio Summerville (74') and Jarrod Bowen (90+2' P) helped West Ham United beat Manchester United, despite an 81st minute strike from Casemiro.

The Red Devils will take on a resurgent Chelsea side in the league on Sunday, November 3, and will be hoping to return to winning ways.

How have Manchester United performed in the Premier League so far?

The Red Devils find themselves in the 14th spot on the Premier League table. They have managed just one win in their last five league games.

In the Europa League, they are yet to win a single game and have secured three draws from three matches. Their most recent outing was a 1-1 draw against former manager Jose Mourinho's side, Fenerbahçe SK.

Things are looking rather dim for Erik ten Hag, whose future at United hangs in the balance at the moment.

Ten Hag's side will take on Chelsea side next weekend in the Premier League, who secured a 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Blues will be hoping to continue their impressive run while The Red Devils will be hoping to make amends for their string of harrowing performances.
