"We need to find that man" - Ian Wright believes Arsenal need to sign a player similar to 24-year-old PSG star
Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to sign a player similar to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) midfielder Vitinha's profile.
Wright's comments come after the Gunners' elimination from the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal stages. After a 2-2 draw at the Emirates against Bayern Munich, Mikel Arteta's team were eliminated from the competition following a 1-0 defeat at Allianz Arena.
Wright reckons there's room for improvement in the Gunners' midfield and has urged the north Londoners to sign a player like Vitinha. The legendary striker said (via The Boot Room):
"Do you know what I was saying, what I was alluding to a little bit. A player like Vitinha from PSG. I know you're saying about Odegaard and Rice, but you're talking about someone with the X factor we need. We have a load of good players, but that X factor, out of the blue, bang, we need to find that man."
While Arsenal were eliminated from the Champions League, Vitinha helped PSG qualify for the semi-finals of the competition and netted a long ranger during the second leg.
Vitinha has been a key player for the Parisians this season. The Portugal international has scored nine goals and has provided five assists in 40 appearances across competitions this term. He is contracted with the Ligue 1 giants until the end of the 2026-27 season and has an estimated market value of €45 million, as per Transfermarkt.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry showers praise on PSG midfielder Vitinha for Barcelona showing
Vitinha was spectacular for PSG as the Parisians defeated Barcelona to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. He scored in both legs of the last eight tie.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has showered praise on the Portuguese midfielder for his performance. Henry claimed Vitinha was present everywhere in the second leg against Barca. He told CBS Sports (via The Boot Room):
"The main man for me, he has been running the show for a very long time for this team now, is Vitinha. He scored in Paris, he scored again tonight, he was everywhere tonight."
The Parisians will lock horns with Borussia Dortmund in the last four of the Champions League. The Ligue 1 giants are still gunning for their first Champions League title.
