"We need to do our job, it's not in our hands, but that duty is on us" - Mikel Arteta speaks out ahead of Arsenal v Everton PL clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking ahead of the club's clash against Everton on the final day of the Premier League season, highlighted that the fate of the title race was not in their hands.

The Gunners take on Toffees in a must-win game as Manchester City take on West Ham United at the same time. The Cityzens need to win their clash against the Hammers as dropping points will hand the advantage to the Gunners.

Arteta's men have a superior goal difference and will be handed their first Premier League title in over two decades should City drop points and the north London side register a win.

However, should Manchester City win their clash, the Gunners' game against the Toffees will be a mere formality. While speaking ahead of the crucial clash, Arteta said that while they can win the Premier League, the outcome isn't in their hands.

Here's what he said while speaking to TNT Sports:

"It feels special. You can feel the energy outside the stadium, the excitement around the fans. It’s a big day ahead of us. It can be done. We need to do our job, it’s not in our hands, but that duty is on us."

Bukayo Saka will miss the game against the Toffees due to injury. The Englishman has been sensational so far this season, however, he was subbed off last week in the Gunners' game against Manchester United.

While Arsenal have been in impeccable form, his absence might make a dent in the north London club's chances of winning the Premier League title.

Arsenal already have more wins than 'The Invincibles' this season

The Gunners have managed 27 wins so far this league season. They already have more wins than the mighty 'Invincibles' side of 2003-04, who managed 26 wins and 12 draws in a 38-game Premier League season.

While Arsenal have tasted defeat this season, they enter the game against Everton as potential Premier League champions. The Gunners came pretty close to winning the title last season as well.

Arteta's men dominated the table for over 200 days but failed to convert their heroic run. Fans will be hoping that the players make amends and fulfil a dream that has eluded them for over 20 years.
