"We’re just used to it" - Spain star shares social media post alongside former club teammate Rodri as La Roja win Euro 2024

Former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte shared a picture of himself with his former club teammate Rodri holding aloft the Euro 2024 trophy as Spain beat England 2-1 in Berlin on Sunday (July 14). It was La Roja's record fourth European Championship.

Following a goalless first period in the German capital, Nico Williams broke the deadlock for La Roja in the 47th minute. Substitute Cole Palmer restored parity for the Three Lions in the 73rd minute, shortly after coming on.

However, another substitute, Mikel Oyarzabal - who replaced captain Alvaro Morata - ensured that La Roja had the last laugh, as he drilled home an 86th-minute winner to extend the Three Lions' 58-year major-title drought.

Meanwhile, Laporte - who won multiple titles with Rodri at City - posted a picture of the duo holding the Euro 2024 trophy, captioning it:

"We’re just used to it."

Laporte - who plays for Al-Nassr - played 102 times across competitions with Rodri at City, winning three Premier League titles and the continental treble in the 2022-23 season.

Spain created records and milestones galore in their memorable Euro 2024 triumph. They won all seven games - a first by any team in an European Championship. Only Brazil (2002 FIFA World Cup) won a major tournament with seven straight wins.

Midfield sensation Lamine Yamal became the youngest assist-provider and goalscorer. He's also the youngest player to appear in a major-tournament semi-final and final, breaking a 17-year-old Pele's mark set at the 1958 FIFA World Cup.

Nico Williams (second) and Cole Palmer (fourth) are two of the four youngest scorers in an Euro final. Alvaro Morata (17) becomes Spain's most capped player at the Euros.

Mikel Oyarzabal is the 10th different player to score for Spain at Euro 2024, the most by any team in a single edition of the competition. He's also only the fourth substitute to score the winner in an Euro final, emulating Germany's Oliver Bierhoff (1996), France's David Trezeguet (2000) and Portugal's Eder (2016).

It was La Roja's 15th goal in the competition, beating the record set by France in 1984 for most goals at an European Championship.

Jesus Navas becomes the 14th player to win two Euros, his first coming 12 years ago at Euro 2012. Meanwhile, Dani Carvajal and Nacho joined an exclusive club of 12 players to win the UEFA Champions League and the Euros in the same year, joining the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe (both 2016) and Jorginho (2021).

Finally, Spain's Euro 2024 triumph is their 27th straight in a UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, FIFA World Cup and European Championship final since Valencia's loss to Bayern Munich on penalties in the 2001 UCL.
