“We’re playing with 10 men” - Tottenham fans want Spurs superstar dropped for Chelsea game after being ‘abysmal’ Arsenal loss

Tottenham Hotspur fans aren't pleased with James Maddison following his "abysmal" performance in their North London derby against Arsenal on April 28. Spurs lost 3-2 in their home stadium, and now, the fans don't want Maddison to make an appearance in their upcoming match against Chelsea.

The former Leicester City midfielder played for just over an hour in their outing against the Gunners. However, he couldn't make much of an impact. While his passing was generally accurate, his crosses from the corner flag hardly found their mark in the final third. He also constantly lost duels, winning only two out of eight, and he couldn't dribble past any opponents, as he struggled to get into the game.

His poor performance and lack of impact was noted by the Tottenham fans, who took to social media to slam the attacking playmaker with their posts.

"The biggest negative of today has been Maddison. When he's going to get back to his level? We're basically playing with 10 men, I'm expecting a lot more by him, we made him vice captain and this is the effort on a NLD?! Disappointed once again." a angry fan wrote in detail.
"Want a hot take? I wouldn't start Son *or* Maddison against Chelsea." another fan stated.
"The 3 cycles of Maddison through a season: Unplayable. Unavailable. Unnoticeable." a fan slammed the Tottenham Hotspur star.
"We did too much self inflicted damage in that first half. Just poor goals to give away. Maddison the biggest disappointment today. Let me down completely. He deserves to be dropped against Chelsea", yet another fan said.
"Maddison needs benching btw", a fan stated.
"Maddison - more sit-down interviews than completed passes in 2024." another fan was angry.
"I don’t want to see maddison start another game for us. hope he’s dropped and gio gets the spot he deserves." another fan asked for him to be dropped.
"I think it's time to talk about James Maddison. Kulusevski needs to start in the middle on Thursday against Chelsea" a fan also added.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 Arsenal: Gunners win North London Derby

Tottenham were easily the more dominant side in the first half against Arsenal but found themselves 3-0 down. They looked to turn things on its head in the second half but the Gunners managed to prevail.

The game saw Arsenal cruise with some relative ease, as a Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg own goal helped them open the scoring in the 15th minute. They scored two more with Bukayo Saka (27') and Kai Havertz (38') finding the target clinically. But they couldn't have foreseen Tottenham Hotspur's second-half reaction.

Spurs pulled one back when Cristian Romero scored to punish an error from Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya in the 64th minute. The second goal came through a penalty, which Son Heung-min buried in the 87th minute. However, the hosts were unable to find the third and equalize the game.
