“We reached the worst level”, “Put an end to his contract” - Fans slam Luis Castro as Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr held to 1-1 draw by Al-Shorta

Fans have reacted on X after Al-Nassr were held to a 1-1 draw by Al-Shorta in Cristiano Ronaldo's absence in their AFC Champions League clash on Monday, September 16. A section of fans want the club to part ways with manager Luis Castro after their disappointing start to the season, with others claiming the Knights of Najd are not good enough without Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed the Champions League clash against the Iraqi outfit due to illness. Al-Nassr took the lead via Sultan Al-Ghannam's well-taken finish in the 14th minute but struggled offensively without the presence of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. The hosts leveled the scores 10 minutes later through Mohammed Dawood's strike to seal a valuable point.

Luis Castro has struggled to impress as head coach this season. He lost the Saudi Super Cup final 4-1 to Al-Hilal last month and has failed to win an official trophy since becoming manager last season. Moreover, the Knights of Najd are currently seventh in the league with five points from three games, having drawn two games to date.

One Al-Nassr fan has seemingly had enough of Luis Castro's style of play as they posted:

"With Castro we reached the worst level, shameful level"

Another fan tweeted:

"Someone should put an end to his contract"

Check out how other fans reacted below:

"Watch this game due to Angelo and Wesley , but I can say Castro is not the man. They literally have zero plan to break that team down. Good they limit those guys in attacking but No threat at all. It's so crazy they depend on Ronaldo," one fan commented
"They should better sack Castro now," another added
"I think it’s time to leave. It’s best for both parties. Luis Castro can’t take this team any further, whether it’s his fault or not it’s best for everyone involved," another fan tweeted
"Awful result. This shows that we are nothing without Cristiano Ronaldo and our bench has the least depth I’ve ever seen. Not only that, but we lost Brozovic smh," one fan typed
"Compared to Al Hilal , Ronaldo has a terrible team . Midfield doesn’t exist and attacking players are not good," another chimed in
"If this is the mentality around the club we will never win anything aslong as Castro is still managing the club," one fan posted

How did Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr fare in their 1-1 draw against Al-Shorta?

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by Al-Shorta at the Al-Madina International Stadium. The likes of Sadio Mane and Anderson Talisca failed to step up in Ronaldo's absence, so let's take a look at the stats to see how both teams performed in the AFC Champions League clash.

Al-Nassr dominated possession with 59 percent of the ball, completing 453 passes with an accuracy of 87 percent. Meanwhile, the hosts had 41 percent and completed 301 passes with an accuracy of 81 percent.

Al-Nassr landed 17 shots in total but only mustered three on target. The attacking quartet of Talisca, Mane, Abdulrahman Ghareeb, and Otavio managed just two shots on goal, reflecting their struggles without Cristiano Ronaldo. In contrast, Al-Shorta had five shots in total, with four being on target.
