“We spoke about it in the dressing room” - Alexis Mac Allister explains why Liverpool stars were unhappy despite 6-3 win over Tottenham

Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has revealed that the Reds were unhappy about conceding three goals in their 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on December 22, Sunday. The two teams locked horns with eaxh in London in the Premier League.

The Merseyside club took the lead in the 23rd minute through Luis Diaz, before Mac Allister doubled the lead in the 36th minute. James Maddison pulled one back for Spurs four minutes before the break, only for Dominik Szoboszlai to make it 3-1 just before half time.

Mohamed Salah then scored a quickfire brace to send Liverpool 5-1 ahead in the second half. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominik Solanke briefly gave Spurs hope, but Luis Diaz put the game to bed by scoring his second of the night in the 85th minute.

Speaking after the game, Mac Allister added that the Reds are happy with the result.

"We spoke about it in the dressing room. We are not happy with the fact we conceded three goals, that's very clear. But we scored six, that’s not very easy," said Mac Allister.

He continued:

"Tottenham are a good team, they press really high, they are aggressive, we knew we had to put the ball in behind and score the opportunities we had. We are happy with the result, there are many things to improve but we’re happy to get the three points."

Liverpool are leading the title race after 16 games, four points ahead of second-placed Chelsea with a game in hand.

Liverpool next face Leicester City on Thursday, December 26, in the Premier League. The Reds have won 12 times and lost just once in the league this season.

Meanwhile, the Merseyside club have been flawless under Arne Slot so far. The Dutch manager took charge at Anfield this summer and has lost just one game across competitions.

Liverpool are also top of the UEFA Champions League table, where they have won all six games. The Reds have scored 13 goals and conceded just once in Europe this campaign. The Mersyside club have also reached the semifinal of the EFL Cup, where they have scored 10 goals in three games.
