"We suffered a bit" - Kylian Mbappe comments after scoring for Real Madrid in win over Real Sociedad

Real Madrid ace Kylian Mbappe spoke about the difficulty of the game against Real Sociedad after finding the net for Los Blancos as they won 2-0 on Saturday (September 14). The reigning champions maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign, moving to within one point of league leaders Barcelona.

Mbappe joined the Spanish giants from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the summer and struggled in his first few LaLiga games, needing four appearances to score his first goals. The Frenchman, however, made it three goals in two games after he dispatched a penalty to seal his side's win against La Real.

Kylian Mbappe spoke to the press after helping his side claim maximum points from the encounter, explaining that they knew what to expect from the game. He pointed out that they faced difficult moments during the course of the encounter due to the quality of their opposition, but they scaled through.

The Frenchman said (via Managing Madrid):

"We understood that the game was going to be difficult and in the end, we won. We suffered a bit because we played against a good team. We have to keep winning more games to get to where we want to be."

Carlo Ancelotti's side were ravaged by injuries and had to name only eight players on the bench for their trip to San Sebastian. The Italian manager had two goalkeepers on the bench and started with Ferland Mendy and Eder Militao after both passed late fitness tests.

Real Sociedad put on a solid performance in front of their fans, striking the woodwork thrice, but failed to come away with anything. Real Madrid ultimately scaled through the test with the quality of their squad to move up to 11 points in the league.

Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr on target in Real Madrid win

Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr were on song for Real Madrid as they claimed an important 2-0 win away from home against Real Sociedad. The duo showed signs of their blossoming relationship to put the Basque club to the sword in the tie.

Real Madrid found it tough to break down their opposition in the opening period of the encounter, with the first half ending scoreless. A shot from Arda Guler struck a Sociedad arm just 12 minutes into the second period, resulting in a penalty which Vinicius Jr scored from.

The Brazilian forward then won a penalty for himself in the 75th minute before handing the ball to Mbappe to score for the second game running.

It was not all plain sailing for Carlo Ancelotti's side, as they lost Brahim Diaz to injury in the first half. The manager will hope to have some of his injured players back fit for his side's next game, a UEFA Champions League tie against Stuttgart on Tuesday (September 17).
