“We are in talks, I feel comfortable” - Bundesliga star hands Manchester United and Arsenal transfer blow with contract renewal talks
Arsenal and Manchester United have suffered a blow after their transfer target Leroy Sane confirmed he has begun talks to extend his stay with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The 28-year-old has been part of the Bavarian club's setup since arriving from Manchester City in 2020 for a reported €49 million.
Sane has played 186 games for the Bavarian side, scoring 51 goals and providing 50 assists while helping his team win three league titles. He is currently in the final year of his contract but has insisted that he is happy in Bavaria, telling BILD:
“We are in talks, I feel comfortable in Munich. I feel really comfortable. Talks are very good. My focus is currently only on FC Bayern. I follow Premier League football. But the attraction for me lies in the club where I can show my best performance, develop and win titles. I have that at FC Bayern. We keep talking.”
Manchester United and Arsenal might have to consider other options to strengthen their teams if the German extends his contract with Bayern Munich. Sane has not been at his best for the Bundesliga side, playing just 386 minutes across 11 games and scoring three goals.
"Barcelona was always the team I grew up supporting" - Arsenal and Manchester United target wants move to LaLiga giants
Arsenal and Manchester United target Jonathan David prefers a move to Barcelona amid speculation about the Canadian international's future. The 24-year-old joined his current outfit LOSC Lille in 2020 for a reported €27 million from Belgian outfit KAA Gent.
David has played 202 times for the Ligue 1 side, scoring 97 goals and providing 20 assists while helping his side to one league title. He also boasts an impressive fitness record, missing only three games through injury for the French side.
The Canadian discussed his future in a recent interview with The Athletic. When asked about his future, he admitted:
"[Barcelona] was always the team I grew up supporting, When you grow up supporting a team, it's your dream to play for them."
Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly keeping tabs on the striker's situation. The prolific Canadian contract with Lille expires in the summer but he can begin negotiations with European teams in January.
