"Well done Rome, but they did s**t" - Antonio Cassano claims Jose Mourinho was 'very lucky' to reach the Europa League final with Serie A club
Former Italy international Antonio Cassano has slammed Jose Mourinho and claimed that AS Roma are lucky to reach the Europa League final. He believes that the Serie A club did not do enough and were 's**t' in their semi-final tie.
AS Roma edged out a 1-0 result on aggregate against Bayer Leverkusen to make it to the UEFA Europa League final. This will be their second European final in a row after winning the UEFA Europa Conference League last season.
The second leg of the semi-final fixture saw the Italian side sit back and defend, which meant they did not register a single shot on target. Cassano was not happy with the performance and told talkSPORT:
"The coach will say that everything is special, but in life, as Napoleon said, it's better to be a lucky commander than a strong one. And he is very lucky, he is impressive. He sucked, but it will be said that last year he won the Conference and now he has reached the final.
"We will continue for results. I have to talk about football and analyse the game. A rather embarrassing thing. Something you can't understand at all. But what will he say? I made it to the final, I won, I don't give a s**t. Well done Rome, but they did s**t."
AS Roma will face Sevilla in the final this season after the Spanish side defeated Juventus in their semi-final tie.
Jose Mourinho linked with PSG job this summer
Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move to PSG this summer as they are looking for a managerial change. The Ligue 1 side are not happy with Christophe Galtier and a change is reportedly in the making, as per L'Equipe.
RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo was not happy with the links and claimed that Mourinho is no longer a top coach. He said:
"In the league, Mourinho is a little rinsed. At one time, it would have made me trip for him to come to Paris Saint-Germain, but there, I have serious doubts. I wonder if it doesn't suit him to arrange communication with journalists who would serve as a relay to make people believe that. But is that basically what the management of Paris Saint-Germain really wants? A direction that you never really know where it is. Is this Doha? In Nasser's office? Or with Nasser's advisers, even his occult advisers? I don't know, it's all very vague."
Chelsea were also said to be interested in Mourinho, while Real Madrid are also said to be keeping tabs.
