"What the future brings we'll be ready" - Manchester United star reacts to rumors linking Ruben Amorim with Red Devils job

Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has reacted to rumors linking the Red Devils with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim. The talented Portuguese coach has spent all his managerial career in his home country, coaching clubs like Casa Pia and Braga.

He joined Sporting CP in March 2020, leading the giants to two Primeira Liga trophies, two Taca de Liga trophies, and one Supertaca Candido de Oliveira. However, he is widely expected to leave Sporting CP in the coming days, with a move to Manchester United reportedly in the works.

Amorim will likely begin his new role at the Old Trafford dugout during the November international break, according to Sky Sports. This will leave current interim Ruud van Nisterlrooy in charge of the Red Devils until that point.

In a conversation with Sky Sports, Diogo Dalot spoke about Ruben Amorim, saying:

“He's a good manager. We don't know if he's coming or not, we see the rumors like everybody sees it. We just focus on what we have here, doing our job. What the future brings we'll be ready.”

Diogo Dalot notably partook in Manchester United's 5-2 win over Leicester City in the EFL Cup Round of 16 at Old Trafford on October 30. In the coming weeks, he could be playing under his compatriot Amorim.

Manchester United interim boss speaks about club's potential

Manchester United's interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has spoken about the club's potential ability to succeed. The Red Devils are going through a rather rough patch, as they sit in 14th place on the Premier League table.

In his program notes ahead of their 5-2 win over Leicester, Van Nistelrooy said (via BBC):

"Even on an interim basis, it is a great honour to manage the club I love for however long I am asked to do so. When I returned in the summer as Erik’s assistant, it was because I believe that Manchester United can climb back to the levels that I knew here as a player."
"I still have that belief, but it will take time and a lot of hard work. We’ve seen the squad’s potential at times this season, but clearly not often enough."

Van Nistelrooy will be pleased about the team's performance against the Foxes in the EFL Cup. However, they will have to impress in their upcoming Premier League match against Chelsea at home on November 3. They could drop further in the table if they fail to win.
