After two wins in the group stage against Croatia and Italy, La Roja have now qualified for the knockout stages of Euro 2024. Spain's next and final match in the group stage will be against Albania on June 24, arguably their easiest opponent.

In the clash against Italy, Spain created a host of chances in the first half, but were unable to beat Italian shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The second half started in similar fashion, with La Roja exerting their dominance.

Nico Williams dribbled his way into the penalty box from the left flank and flashed the ball across the penalty area. After Donnarumma palmed it away from his goal, the ball hit Italian defender Riccardo Calafiori and flew into the net in the 55th minute.

The own-goal gave the Spaniards a deserved lead and they held off the Italians to secure a narrow victory. While La Roja has secured their spot in the knockout stage, Italy could join them in the next round if they can avoid defeat in their next fixture against Croatia in Euro 2024.
